- Punjab Government rejected many applications
- 1,86,487 people from Punjab have applied for houses
Yes, House of Cards falls. Dream of owning a house for 1,76,412 Punjab residents goes up in smoke. The application invited under “Housing for all scheme” scrutinized and only 10,075 applications are found eligible for financial help. Out of 10075, 7948 application are accepted for plot construction and 2127 applications accepted for constructing pucca house. These are scrutinized applications and these too shall have to wait for long because this matter is still baking in Papers.
The Punjab Government have spent huge money in propagating this scheme in newspapers while posting big advertisements. In the advertisements government asked every district, Municipal council, Panchayat based people to send applications under the scheme. This scheme is “Housing for all scheme” “beneficiaries land construction” under which it is said that people from the state who are having annual income worth Rs 3 lakh Rupees and if they are bonafide of state’s Municipal Council, Panchayat and do not have any pucca house in the whole country then they would be given financial help of worth Rs. 1.50 lakh. After these lurking advertisement around 1,86,487 people dreamt of having own house and have applied under this scheme.
First scrutiny: Government started the scrutiny in which at the first part the eligible people were 65,461. On the second part the count decreased to 20183 and thirdly after doing physical checking the count decreased to 10075 only.
This is hilarious to share that after all this cropping Punjab Government have sent proposal to Centre Government for releasing the grant. But the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation gave an apt answer to Punjab Government on their proposal. Ministry said that they would release grant only after they return the additional central assistance of centre government back in accounts. This is because Punjab Government sent 244.43 Crore proposal to centre government under Housing for all scheme but the central sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (C.M.M.C) found in their meeting that under the Jawahar Lal Nehru national Urban Renewal Mission Punjab Government has already have additional amount of funds in their accounts and along with it under the mission only Government has constructed many houses in Punjab which are yet waiting for allotment. The committee has considered that if Punjab Government resort the precious said issues only then ministry would release new grant. The considered issues are allotment of empty houses and refund of additional central assistance lying in Punjab Government accounts.
