Gold Medals to thirty-five for outstanding research  and academic excellence.

Shri J P Nadda, Hon’ble Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and President of the Institute will be Chief Guest on the occasion of 35th Convocation of PGIMER on Saturday, the 9th February, 2019. In the last 34th Convocation, PM Narendra Modi have presided the degrees to students. Professor Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER will preside over the function. The Chief Guest will be awarding Gold Medals to thirty-five students for outstanding research and academic excellence.

The medals include Kataria Memorial Gold Medal to Dr Ram V. Nampoothiri (Year 2014-15)

Dr Khadilkar Ankeeta Satish (Year 2016-17) & Dr Manjinder Singh Randhawa (Year 2017-18). 

V.K. Saini Gold Medal in the field of Cardiovascular Diseases to

  • Dr Divya Kapoor (Year 2014),
  • Dr Anjuman Arora (Year 2015),
  • Dr Vadhi Mounika Reddy (Year 2016)
  • Dr Man Singh Parihar (Year 2017).

Prof Subhash Kumari Gupta Memorial Gold Medal 

  • Dr Suvradeep Mitra (Year 2014)
  • Dr Praveen Sharma S. (Year 2016)

Aikat Memorial Gold Medal 

  • Ms. Seema Nain (Year 2014)
  • Ms Bawandeep Kaur (Year 2015)

  • Ms Veena Aggarwal (Year 2018).

 The other gold medals are Major General Amir Chand Gold Medal, Prof R. Nath Gold Medal in the field of Biomedical Sciences, Prof D. Subrahmanyam Gold Medal in the field of Biomedical Sciences, Prof Inder Jit Dewan Memorial Gold Medal, Prof V.K. Bhargava Gold Medal and Dr. (Mrs.) H.K. Walia Gold Medal92 silver medals and 95 bronze medals will also be awarded to students from various specialities.

The degrees will be bestowed upon 1886 students this year. During this Convocation Ph.D will be awarded to 126 students; DM (medical super-specialties) of Addiction Psychiatry, Cardiac Anaesthesia, Clinical Haematology, Cardiology, Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Histopathology, Hematopathology, Neurology, Neuro- Anaesthesia Nephrology, Neonatology, NeuroRadiology, Pulmonary &Critical Care Medicine,  Pediatric Neurology, Pediatrics Critical Care & Pediatrics Hemato Oncology, Pediatric Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology & Pediatric Gastroenterology to 253.

PGIMER has always been the most sought after Institute for medical education.  Since its inception, PGI has established 20 postgraduate (MD/MS) courses in various branches of medicine and surgery, 37 post-doctoral (DM/MCh) courses in various superspecialty areas, out of which many are first such courses in the country. 

In addition, a large number of one-year fellowship courses are in the planning stage and would start within a year. At present, there are 930 students pursuing MD/MS courses, about 250 DM/M.Ch. courses, about 210 PhD courses and about 860 paramedical and nursing courses. PGI has also introduced MD in Hospital Administration, Bachelors in Public Health, Animation & Audio visual Creation, Embalming & Mortuary Science.
