Here are again laurels for PGI Pediatric Surgery department.The faculty and senior resident doctors of the Department of Pediatric Surgery of PGIMER, Chandigarh won many honors & awards at the recently concluded 42nd Annual Conference of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons at Agra.

Prof. K.L.N. Rao, Head of the Department and Sub-Dean of PGI, has been conferred Dr. T. Dorairajan Gold medal for the year 2015 in recognition of his life time services to Pediatric Surgery in India.  The citation mentioned that Dr. Rao has done extensive research and published 430 research publications with 38 years of clinical experience in Pediatric Surgery & Pediatric Urology and trained 130 pediatric surgeons for this country so far.  This is the highest number of trainees for any centre anywhere in the country.  He had been a Past-President of the Association in 2003 and Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons from 2007-2013.  The journal achieved indexation in PubMed during his tenure.  He has been a recipient of Dr. M.S. Ramakrishnan oration award (2005), Dr. K.C. Sogani gold medal (2012), Dr K.N. Rao oration award by International Medical Sciences Academy (2015) and Leelawati Upadhyay Gold Medal of Asian Society for Pediatric Urology (2015).

 Dr. Ravi P. Kanojia, Additional Professor was conferred Fellowship of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons. 

At this conference, six Senior Resident Doctors of the department who are pursuing their M.Ch training have won eight best paper awards for their research and presentation.  They are Dr. Shalini Hegde, Dr. Yasir Ahmad Lone, Dr. Vedarth Dash, Dr. Monal Kansra, Dr Pradeep Agrawal and Dr. Vineet Binu on various surgical diseases of children.
