After the Demonetisation issue there is one more tension issue for Haryanvis and Punjabis. The Haryana state has repotedly taken aggresive decision to stop long routes bus services to Punjab with an immediate effect. Haryana Roadways buses to Jammu, which pass through Punjab, have also been stopped.
As per Reports, The Haryana state has stopped the services in wake of Supreme Court of India’s decision on controversial SYL Canal issue. The Supreme Court had passed a decision yesterday in favour of Haryana on SYL canal issue.
After the Supreme Court passed a verdict saying that it is unconstitutional for the Punjab government to terminate water sharing agreement with other states, the Haryana Roadways has stopped plying of all buses from Jind to Punjab for major security reasons. Earlier, protesting against the judgment, several Congress MLAs resigned at once, including party state leader Amarinder Singh.
Private buses owned by Haryana transporters are reportedly not affected by this decision. Moreover, the Haryana Roadways buses will continue on short routes in Punjab ranging from 50 Km to 60 Km.
Notably, Haryana’s Khaps have threatened to cut Punjab from Delhi by blocking Punjab’s road and railways transport passing through Haryana.
